The whole field, question by question
Each scan puts the same buyer questions to each of your engines and reads every answer the same way. Every brand they name is counted beside you, including the ones you never listed as a rival.
- Who comes up beside you: every brand the engines name, including rivals you have not met yet.
- Question by question: what each type of buyer asks at each stage (spotting a problem, looking for options, comparing, choosing), on every engine.
- Engine by engine: each engine is read on its own, so a rival that wins on ChatGPT and loses on Gemini shows as exactly that.
- How each of you is mentioned: recommended, mentioned, mentioned cautiously, warned against, or left out.
- By theme: the reasons behind the picks, such as price or integrations, and who leads on each.
- From one scan to the next: the same questions again, so you see what moved after your changes.
From one number to the questions you can win
Most tools give you one number for the whole market, called share of voice, which says how often the engines name you compared with everyone else. It says how far behind you are and nothing about where. Talebeacon keeps that number, then lists each question you lose, who won it, and the page that would win it back.
| Asking by hand | Share of voice | TALEBEACONHead-to-head, per question | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it gives | A feel for a few questions | One number across all questions | Who wins each buyer question, and how far ahead |
| What it hides | The questions you did not ask, and your own chat history shaping the answers to the ones you did | Which questions you lose | Only questions we did not ask; every question you lose is listed with who won it |
| What you can act on | A hunch about one question | A number to report, with no page to fix | The page to fix for each lost question, and the rival it answers |
| From one scan to the next | Single answers change from run to run | Holds steady across many answers | Holds steady, and shows which questions moved |
Ask an AI engine the same question twice and you can get two different answers; a brand's share across many answers holds steady (SparkToro, January 2026). That is why we count shares across every question rather than trust one answer.
How it works
- 01
We write the questions
We draft them from your site: the types of buyer in your market, and the questions each one asks on the way to a choice. You approve the buyer types before anything runs.
- 02
We ask the engines
Three AI engines per scan, your pick, each answering every question with web search on. Which engines we read
- 03
We read every answer the same way
Who is named, who is recommended, who is mentioned with caution or warned against, and what the engine weighed. The same reading every scan, so the numbers compare.
- 04
You get the head-to-head, and the move
Each question you lose points at a page or a listing. The plan ranks them by how many answers each change could win. Then the next scan asks the same questions, and you see what moved.
Questions people ask
Who counts as a competitor?
The rivals you list when you set up, plus every brand the engines name in your buyers' answers. Listing competitors is optional; the engines show us who you are really up against.
Can I see one engine on its own?
Yes. Each engine is read and counted separately, and you can change your three whenever you like; the next scan reads them.
How often does the benchmark refresh?
As often as every three days, up to ten scans a month, on the same questions each time.
Do my rivals see my numbers?
No. Your results stay yours: we do not sell them, do not show them to other customers, and do not train AI models on them.
